We express our deep sorrow over the unprecedented tragedy that has befallen on the people of Wayanad, Kerala. In a series of landslides following heavy rains, villages, towns and habitats in the region saw unprecedented destruction. Many villages have been cut-off from roads and houses in some areas entirely wiped out.
The death toll has already crossed 100 and it is feared that it may further increase. In this tragic situation, we stand in support and solidarity with the with the people of Kerala and Wayanad who are at the receiving end of this crisis and tragedy.
We have immediately contacted the leaders of All Kerala Bank Employees Federation and discussed with them about the relief measures that can be undertaken by bank employees and our Unions.
We are informed that Chief Minister’s office is working out the manner in which relief measures can be undertaken so that things are regulated.
It has been decided that initially AIBEA and AKBEF will contribute Rs. 25 lacs towards the relief measures and looking to needs, we shall appeal to our units for further help and assistance.
