JOINT STATEMENT OF CENTRAL TRADE UNIONS – 24-3-2021
Fight the Anti worker, Anti farmer, Anti national policies,
Save the nation – Trade unions support Bharat Bandh by farmers Observe 1st April as BURN/TEAR UP THE LABOUR CODE DAY
On the call of the Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions(CTUs), a three day protest from 24th to 26th March began today all over India demanding withdrawal of 4 Labour Codes, three Farm laws, repeal of Electricity (Amendment) Act 2021, enactment of a law to provide guarantee of MSP, end to wholesale privatization and disinvestment of public sector enterprises and government departments, Corpotatisation and privatisation of sectors like Indian railways, defence, coal oil, ports, airports, telecom, etc. ensure govt’s own order to continue to pay wages and other benefits and not to remove any employee during lockdown, ensure universal ration system and financial assistance to the poor families who continue to be without livelihood, increase in workdays to 200 in MGNREGA, and initiate job guarantee scheme in urban India also, fill up the government sanctioned posts. etc.
On 26th March “Bharat Bandh” call by farmers would be supported by the trade unions through various solidarity actions.
The platform of CTUs in its meeting on 23rd March – the “Shahid Divas” congratulated the financial sector employees for having continuous four day strike action, on 15th and 16th March by banks, 17th March by general insurance companies and 18th March by life insurance companies.
The platform of CTUs also congratulated the workers and farmers of India for observing 15th March as ” Anti privatization , anti corporatization day” all over India.
While deploring the arrogant and negative attitude of Modi government for not responding to the demand of trade unions of revisiting the codes and halt to rule framing on them, it was decided that 1st April would be observed as Nationwide Day to burning/tearing up the 4 Labour codes.

The meeting also appealed to the people of election bound states to give befitting reply to the ruling party at the centre by decisively defeating it as it is working only in the interest of Indian and Foreign corporate. It is dismantling all the hard won labour laws, enforcing Farm laws against the interest of farmers, attempting to corporatise their land. It is handing to the corporate control of the farm produce and hoarding it against the common man’s interest, endangering food security of the common masses. It has failed to control price rise, recession, unemployment. It is further diluting the existing social security and occupational health and safety of working people, imposing fix term employment and bringing in depression in wages.
The self reliance, sovereignty and freedom of the people are put on stake by its policies of destruction of national assets, policies to allow loot of national and natural resources. The time has come to teach the lesson to the ruling party at the centre for pursuing anti worker, anti farmer, anti people, and anti national policies.
