EXTEND SUPPORT TO ALL INDIA STRIKE ON 26TH MARCH, 2021
IN CSB BANK (CATHOLIC SYRIAN BANK) DEMANDING EXTENSION OF 11TH BPS
Catholic Syrian Bank Ltd. (now CSB Bank) is a private Bank with headquarters in Thrissur, Kerala. All along upto 10th Bipartite Settlement, this Bank has been covered by our industry-level Bipartite Settlements. This time, the management of the Bank did not give their mandate to be covered by the 11th BPS. We have been taking up the matter with the management and every time we have been assured that the same would be considered later. Even after the signing of the Settlement we had approached the management to extend the 11th BPS in CSB Bank and implement the same. The management has been delaying the same on the plea that the Bank is facing financial problem.
Our efforts to amicably resolve this issue through discussions and dialogue did not yield any positive result and hence our Union – Catholic Syrian Bank Staff Association – decided to launch agitation. Other Unions in the Bank under AIBOC, BEFI, INBEF also decided to launch agitation. Thus, call has been given by all the Unions to observe strike on 26-3-2021.
Banks in general face many problems in their performance and profitability due to very many reasons like bad loans, mismanagement, wrong administrative and business policies, unwarranted priorities, etc. But no Bank can be said to be in difficulty due to payment of salary to employees. Hence denying wage revision is unfair and not acceptable.
Hence we fully support the Strike in CSB Bank on 26-3-2021. We call upon all our units to extend support to them to make the strike successful.
