Beware and be aware of Poisonous propaganda by NOBW-NOBO

Our attention has been drawn to a joint communication issued by NOBW
and NOBO about the Conference of our Bank of India Staff Union, Kerala
held a few days ago. The allegation is that our Union honoured Pervez
Musharraf, former president of Pakistan by including his name in the
condolence resolution of the Conference and hence our Union is anti-
national.
All of us are aware in all the Conference of our Unions and all other
Unions, customary condolence is expressed for the various international
and national leaders, important personalities and our leaders and
members who had passed away during the period. This is not honouring
them but just recording our customary condolences over their demise.
In the said Conference Report of BOISU, 140 names various leaders and
personalities were mentioned in the draft condolence resolution.
Name of Pervez Musharraf (who died last year) being former President of
our neighbouring country was also mentioned. When some people
pointed out that this name can be deleted as some are creating
avoidable controversy over the same, it was deleted and in the
condolence resolution passed by the conference his name was
not mentioned.
But, with their typical narrow political mindset, and with a view to whip
up sentiments, NOBW and NOBO have portrayed this an anti-national
and has tried to create a poisonous propaganda against our union and
AIBEA. They have also alleged AIBEA as anti-national organisation.
AIBEA’s patriotic credentials need not be proved to these vested
interests as the country and the people at large know very well
about our organisation for the past nearly 8 decades.
Everyone also knows of their past track record of activities but since we
are in the United Forum of Bank Union in which they are also
constituents, we do not want to delve on those issues publicly. It will be
discussed in the next UFBU meeting.
One can understand their frustration and the reasons for the same but
by accusing and abusing AIBEA, they cannot gain anything.
In Bank of India, our AIBEA organisation commands a
membership of 20,180 employees while NOBW Union’s
membership is 71.
Anyone can see through their sinister game but let us ignore them and
concentrate on our larger tasks of fighting for the welfare of the bank
employees and betterment of the banking industry to subserve the interest
of our economy.
