AIBEA Central Committee meeting at Chennai – 24th/25th Feb. 2021
- Implement the programmes of UFBU
- Make the Strike on 15th & 16th March a total success
- Prepare for prolonged strikes & Indefinite StrikeCentral Committee meeting of AIBEA was held in Chennai on 24th and 25th (yesterday and today). Com. Rajen Nagar, President of AIBEA presided over the meeting along with our Vice Presidents Com J P Sharma, Com Nandakumar Chavan, Com. M M Rai and Com Mohd. Nazir Qureshi.UFBU progrmme against privatisation of Banks:The meeting welcomed the decisions of UFBU and the various programmes given by UFBU in protest against the Government’s proposal to privatise Public Sector Banks. After elaborate discussion by the CC Members during which they highlighted the importance of the struggle in defence of public sector banking and against privatisation of banks, the CC adopted a Resolution resolving to implement the programmes effectively in all the States.Introducing the Resolution, the General Secretary recalled the bitter struggles launched by AIBEA in the 60s demanding nationalization of Banks. He stated that the time has now come to defend bank nationalisation by sustained struggles. He said that privatisation of banks is anti-people, anti- economy and anti-worker and hence has to be fought back resolutely. He emphasized that while the agitational programmes and strike actions are very important to show our resentment and opposition to the move of the Government, our campaign amongst the people at large, and among the beneficiaries of nationalized Banks are equally important.Hence, he said that our agitation has to be in parts, one to mobilise all our members and the other to solicit support of the people to our demand to stop privatisation of banks. He pointed out that special efforts should be taken to involve our young members in the agitational programmes so that they get baptized in the path of struggle.He the emphasised the need to implement the programmes in co-ordination with all the unions under UFBU but underscored that our units and members should play a leading role in effectively implementing the programmes.The Resolution was adopted unanimously. It was resolved that we must get prepared to further intensify the struggle through prolonged strikes and indefinite strikes.
11th BP Settlement: The CC meeting hailed the recent 11th Bipartite wage revision settlement and exhorted all the Unions to remit their Levy to AIBEA (20%) at the earliest.
Retirees’ issues : The meeting was apprised of the developments and it was noted that the improvement in Family Pension is under process and the approval of the Government is awaited. Similarly, he informed that the issue of updation of pension is receiving the attention of the IBA and Government.
Following Resolutions were also adopted in the meeting:
- Opposing the anti-labour policies of the Government and replacementof labour laws with 4 labour codes.
- Extending support to the struggle of the farmers.
- Opposing the privatisation of PSUs including LIC and GIC.
- Demanding the reinstatement of the illegal terminated employees of Bank of Tokyo.
- Demanding extension of 11th Bipartite wage revision in Catholic Syrian Bank.
- Extending full support to the agitation and strike call on 10th March by All India Bank of Maharashtra Emp. Federation.
- Demanding wage revision in RRBs on the lines of 11th BP Settlement.
- Demanding IBA and Banks to amicably settle the demands of Daily Deposit Collectors.
- Highlighting the adverse amendments to the B R Act on Co-op. Banks and demanding review of the same. The meeting also extended its support to the programmes of All India Co-op. Bank Emp. Federation.
Comrades, given the present policy approach of the Government, it is necessary to strengthen our organisations at all levels. We are sure that all our Unions will equip themselves accordingly so that together we can face these attacks and challenges.
